Student Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
2009-2010
School Times: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
First
NO SUPERVISION IS PROVIDED BEFORE 7:30 AM EXCEPT IN THE BEFORE
SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM IN WHICH YOUR CHILD
CAN BE REGISTERED. STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON CAMPUS BEFORE
7:30 AM
Arrival Procedures:
· Car
drop-off is at the west side of the school off of
· Staff
members will be on duty to assist the students.
Please pull forward as far as possible when dropping your child off so
that staff can assist more than one car at a time.
· Parents
dropping students off for Before School Care, held in the media center, are to
do so using the front entrance only.
· The
south side doors (the doors closest to the portables) will be open from 7:30 –
8:00 a.m. for students who arrive in busses and private day-care vans. (These vehicles must have an area without
cars parking and possibly blocking their drop-off lane.) These doors will be locked at 8:00 a.m.,
making the front entrance the only means of entering the school building after
that time.
· Students
are to wait seated by their classrooms until the teachers open the doors at
7:55 a.m. Hallway supervision is
provided by staff members with the assistance of fifth-grade student
patrols.
· Students
who attend classes in the portables will wait in the cafeteria in the
morning. They will be escorted to their
classes when the bell rings.
· For
safety reasons, parents need to stay in the one drop-off lane.
Please keep in mind that parking is limited and
double-parking is never allowed. Parents
are advised to drop their children off unless they have official business in
the school such as a scheduled teacher conference. There is additional parking on the south side
at
Dismissal Procedures:
· Car
pick-up is at the west side of the school off of
· Parents
of PLACE students (ages three and four) are allowed to park in the first 10
spots at the front of the lane between 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Their children will be dismissed a few
minutes prior to 2:00 p.m. (This area
begins at the first pedestrian crosswalk.)
· For
safety reason, parents need to stay in the one pick-up lane and must remain in
their cars.
· Parking
along the pick-up lane and leaving the car unattended is not possible.
· Staff
members will be on duty to assist the students to their parents’ cars.
· Please
pull forward at 2:00 p.m., after the PLACE students are dismissed, as far as
possible so that staff can assist more than one care at a time.
Parents are asked to avoid blocking the pedestrian crosswalk
by the main entrance at any time (including the times for Before and After
School Care). This can create a
dangerous situation for those who need to cross the driveway on foot.
Rainy-Day Dismissal:
On days when it storms at dismissal time, students will be
kept inside of the building and staff members (using walkie-talkies) will
communicate to escort the children to each car.
Students who walk or ride their bicycles will be dismissed after the
storm passes. Crossing guards are asked
to remain on duty.
